Kim Horton, LCPC
Kim is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a graduate of Chicago State Univ who strives to create an environment that fosters a positive therapeutic relationship with every client. She uses therapy as a way to nurture, support, challenge, and understand her clients. Her belief is that therapy should be a safe place dedicated to a client’s healing. Kim supports both individuals and families by using a solution-focused, strengths-based approach. She believes that all people have the capacity to create and sustain positive change within themselves.
Kim enjoys working with children, adolescents, and adults from a variety of backgrounds. She works with clients who have experienced depression, anxiety, domestic violence, substance use, trauma/PTSD, grief and loss, job stress, and other mental health issues. Her therapeutic style is a combined approach of mindfulness, motivational, and cognitive-behavioral perspectives.
Finally, Kim says “I strive to help my clients regain a positive quality of life, as well as rebuild their strength and resiliency to face life’s challenges and stressors. My goal is to support, empower, and collaborate with clients in addressing the underlying causes of current pain.” When not at work, Kim enjoys reading, video games, and playing with her dog, Kyoko.
